At Henry Holt, Serena Jones has been promoted to executive editor. In addition, Caroline Zancan moves up to senior editor, and Eleanor Embry has been promoted to assistant editor.

At Counterpoint and Soft Skull, Megan Fishmann has been promoted to associate publisher, while continuing as director of publicity.

Open Road Integrated Media announced a number of recent promotions. Mary McAveney has been promoted to evp, marketing, while Matt Shatz moves up to evp, revenue. Daniel Shemesh is promoted to svp, finance, and Brian Haley moves up to vp, technology. Finally, Julie Blattberg has been promoted to vp,stragetic operations and chief of staff to the ceo.

Michael Eisenberg has been promoted to associate publisher, director of book marketing at Highlights Retail Group.

Melanie Fried has joined Harlequin’s Graydon House imprint as editor. Previously she was an associate editor at Thomas Dunne.

Karen Jackson has joined Thomas Nelson as director of marketing. Previously she served as director of marketing for Motown Records’ gospel division.

Molly Brouillette Ellis has been promoted to director of publicity at Macmillan Children’s.

Rachel Goldstein has been promoted to vp, executive director, business strategy, finance & operations at Penguin Random House Publisher Services. Todd Berman is now vp, business development and publishing strategy with enhanced responsibilities to liaise with clients on meeting their long-term goals business goals.

Obituaries
Literary agent Anthony Sheil, 84, died on Tuesday. He created Anthony Sheil Associates in 1962, and co-founded Wallace Aitken and Sheil in New York in 1974. In 1991 he became Chairman of Sheil Land Associates, which he left in 1998 to work as an independent agent in association with Aitken Alexander Associates.
