Sarah Malarkey will join Ten Speed Press as an executive editor, reporting to Lorena Jones. She was previously executive editorial director at Chronicle Books for two decades.

At Mountaineers Books, publisher for 20 years Helen Cherullo will move into the role of executive director of conservation and advancement on March 1 to focus on philanthropic development. Director of finance and operations Tom Helleberg will succeed her as publisher. Darryl Booker will move up to director of sales and marketing.

At Simon & Schuster Children’s, Katherine Devendorf has been promoted to executive managing editor. Julia McCarthy becomes associate editor at Atheneum.

Michelle Lipinski will join University of California Press as senior editor acquiring in economics & technology studies on March 9. She is currently a senior acquisitions editor at Stanford University Press, where she acquires books in law and anthropology.

Margie Guerra has joined The Experiment as contracts and rights director. She was previously rights and permissions manager at Benchmark Education.

Julian Shaw will join Welbeck Publishing as group finance and operations director on March 2. He is currently ceo of Lifebook.

Series
Lucasfilm announced a new line of books: Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, “a massive interconnected story that’s told across various formats by various publishers.” Starting in August, the line will include adult and young adult novels, children’s books, and comics from a variety of publishers including Disney Lucasfilm Press, Del Rey, IDW Publishing, and Marvel.

Bookselling
Barnes & Noble will close their store at Montrose Crossing in Rockville, MD this summer, at the same time that they open a new location a mile away, on Rockville Pike at Congressional Plaza.

Awards
The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and the Nieman Foundation have named the shortlists for the J. Anthony Lukas Prizes. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on May 5 at Columbia Journalism School.

The Association of American Publishers announced the winners of the Prose Excellence Awards, which recognize scholarly publications in five categories.
