People, Etc.: Harper Also Withdraws from Rescheduled Book Expo

March 24, 2020By Erin Somers

In line with Penguin Random House’s position to skip this year’s planned Book Expo and Book Con — even after Reed Exhibitions rescheduled the events for July — HarperCollins has also withdrawn. “In light of the current situation and the unpredictability of the coronavirus in the coming months, we’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw our participation in Book Expo and Book Con 2020. We understand the importance of connecting with booksellers, educators, and readers, and look forward to engaging with them at other opportunities.”
At Flatiron Books, Kelly Gatesman has been promoted to designer; Jordan Forney to marketing associate; and Katherine Turro to senior marketing manager.

Kristen Bianco and Elora Weil have joined Putnam as publicists. Bianco was previously an associate publicist at Algonguin; Weil was previously associate publicist at Little Brown.

Molly Waxman has joined Sourcebooks as senior director of marketing for its fiction imprints. She was previously director of marketing at Harper Collins.

Jessica Wong was promoted to executive editor at Nelson Books.

Gabrielle Greco has joined Workman Publishing as digital sales manager across all imprints. She was most recently account manager on the independent bookstore sales team at Simon & Schuster.

Lucy Cleland has been promoted to full-time literary agent at Kneerim & Williams.

Albert Uderzo, 92, one of the creators of comic book character Asterix, died on Tuesday.
