With reports that Amazon will start listing paid Kindle bestsellers on their site at an unspecified time in the future (as they have done promotionally via Publishers Lunch since the beginning of 2009), we were interested in the variations in bestsellers among different platforms. Bookselling: ABA and ABC Formalize Process of Considering Merger
The ABA and the ABC (Association of Booksellers for Children) have agreed on a process “to generate a formal plan for how ABC will be integrated into ABA should a merger vote be approved.” They hope to put a proposal to a vote of ABC membership in September and, if approved, expect a merger would be implemented at the beginning of 2011.BTW

Hay House is the latest publisher to partner with Author Solutions in starting a self-publishing line. Their new Balboa Press line will focus on authors wanted to publish self-help books. As is standard in these models, Hay House promises to “monitor” the paid-for books. CEO Reid Tracy says, “While these books won’t be published by Hay House, Balboa Press will be monitored for success, and hopefully we’ll find the Hay House authors of the future.” And for $15,000, participants can buy a money-saving Hay House Recommends promotional package. BEA has issued an advisory on procedures for gaining entrance to Tuesday night’s opening “keynote” interview with Barbra Streisand. Tickets will be distributed through an Opening Night Keynote Ticket Counter in the main convention registration area, and the window will open the day before, Monday, May 24 from 1 to 5, and then again on Tuesday starting at 7 am. They will let people line up for admission starting at noon on Tuesday and doors for the 6 o’clock session will open at 4. “Everyone with a ticket must be seated by 5:45 p.m. or you may lose your seat.” […]
