Quarto to Sell Selected Assets After Challenging 2012
Following a tumultuous year that saw the ouster by shareholders of co-founder Laurence Orbach, Quarto reported 2012 results and reasserted their plans for the future, which include the possibility of selling off some of their hodgepodge of assets to help pay down their debt. (Borrowings include approximately $91 million in medium- and long-term loans). Sales fell $5.2 million to $180.9 million for the year. Vintage Will Publish EL James’ INNER GODDESS Journal on May 1
EL James will publish a new book in 2013 after all, as Vintage announces a May 1 publication date for FIFTY SHADES OF GREY: INNER GODDESS (A Journal). The “collaboration between James and her US publisher” will be released as a “bonded-leather softcover journal” that will “offer readers and aspiring writers a place where they can record their innermost thoughts.” The book, which will have a 125,000-copy first printing, includes a foreword by James, excerpts from her FIFTY SHADES novels, writing tips, a writing playlist, and lined pages for writing.
More Objections On Closed Domain Names
Following the AAP’s objection to any issuance of closed–or essentially privately-operated–new internet domains such as .book, others have filed comments in opposition with ICANN as well. New Contract Gives BN’s Lynch A $1.8 Million Bonus for Recent Nook Investments
Barnes & Noble ceo William Lynch executed a revised employment agreement on Thursday three years after becoming chief executive that awards him a $1.8 million bonus “in respect of your efforts related to the successful completion of the transactions related to” the Microsoft and Pearson investments in Nook Media. The revised contract also provides Lynch with 300,000 restricted stock units in May (which vest over time thereafter).
