Vigliano to Sell Agency to Burkle-Backed AGI
The NY Post reports that literary agency David Vigliano is selling his company to Ron Burkle’s Y Entertainment Group. Vigliano Associates will be integrated with Artists Group International to form AGI Vigliano Literary, with Vigliano running the literary group. (AGI describes itself as a “live entertainment agency that books an expansive roster of musicians, comedians, and sporting events worldwide.” Their lifestyle group works with television personalities and producers, focused on culinary, fashion, style, home, health & wellness.) Crown has announced rollout plans for 41: A PORTRAIT OF MY FATHER by former president George W. Bush . CBS News will broadcast the first interviews, conducted by Bob Schieffer, on Sunday, November 9 — first on “Sunday Morning” and then on “Face the Nation.” The Today show will feature the author on November 10, and the author and his father interview by Jenna Bush Hager on November 11. Crown has additional broadcast appearances and says, “President Bush will conduct a number of public book signings in the weeks to follow, with details for those events to be announced at a later date.” […]
Steady Trade Results in June and July
The AAP released monthly sales statistics for both June and July, which remained consistent with the pattern from earlier in the year, though perked up in July. Most of the year’s growth is coming children’s and young adult books, which have been up year-over-year for all seven reported months, though you can see in our chart below that those gains faded in June and July. Barnes & Noble to Close One Queens Store — And A Few Others
Media attention helped extend the presence of Barnes & Noble in the Bronx as the borough’s last remaining bookstore, but now the company says they will close one of their three Queens locations at the end of the year. BN indicated they were unable to negotiate a new lease for their Fresh Meadows store, near St. John’s University.
