Public Affairs told Time magazine last week that they had tried to work with the Senate Intelligence Committee to coordinate a trade book version of their 500-page summary version of their torture report, but the committee said it was “devoting its attention to getting the executive summary released.” Now that the report has been released, Melville House has said that it will publish a version of the report for trade paperback and ebook release on December 30. At Simon & Schuster Children’s, Nick Elliot has been promoted to assistant marketing manager. Chronicle Books will handle sales and distribution for UK-based illustrated books publisher Quadrille Publishing in North America, starting with the fall 2015 season. Quadrille plans to hire a US-based marketing and publicity executive and expects to publish approximately 20 titles a season for this market. Quadrille was acquired in 2013 by Australia’s Hardie Grant. Publisher of adult trade and children’s at Amazon Publishing Daphne Durham will leave the company on January 16, PW reports, and will be replaced by head of global marketing for the publishing division Mikyla Bruder, who will serve as publisher for Montlake Romance, Thomas & Mercer, Skyscape, Lake Union, 47North and Jet City Comics. Dunham’s Book to Clarify Alleged Rapist Is A Pseudonym
Lena Dunham’s debut book NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL continues to generate headlines on controversial topics. Random House announced it will alter future editions of the book to indicate that “Barry,” the name of a fellow Oberlin student alleged to have sexually assaulted Dunham, is a pseudonym. “We have put the change in process,” the publisher said in a statement. “The digital edition of Not That Kind of Girl will reflect that ‘Barry’ is a pseudonym.
