First quarter sales at Simon & Schuster fell by $8 million (or 4.5 percent) to $145 million, the company’s third consecutive quarterly revenue drop, as a result of “lower print book sales.” OIBDA was flat at $13 million (with operating income up $1 million to $12 million), with lower selling and inventory costs “more than offsetting” the print book sales decline.
