Google’s new parent company Alphabet reported fourth quarter earnings after the close of the market on Monday. The company exceeded investors’ expectations, reporting sales of $21.3 billion and net income of $4.9 billion (or $7.16 a share). The stock rose more than 4 percent in early Tuesday trading on the news, which brings shares close to an all-time high.
