Kristen Nobles has joined Page Street Publishing as publisher to launch its new children’s book list. She spent the past 13 years at Candlewick and Walker Books Group, most recently as group art director. Co-publisher of Unbridled books Fred Ramey has launched Leaping Man, “a collaborative not-for-profit publishing and production company exploring the intersection of visual, narrative and performing arts.” The company will “seek out direct partnerships with visual, literary and performance artists to create work in a variety of media and platforms,” with the expectation that “each project will be coordinated with a limited print edition or other artifact,” sold through their website. Liese Mayer will join Bloomsbury on February 27 in the newly created role of editorial director, fiction, reporting to Cindy Loh (with editor in chief Nancy Miller continuing to report to Loh as well). Indigo Revenues Rise in Third Quarter
Canadian “book, gift and specialty toy retailer” Indigo reported results for their fiscal third quarter, ending December 31. Sales rose 4.5 percent, or $17.1 million, to $400.3 million (CA) for the quarter, driven by “lifestyle and toy categories” which, as was the case the previous quarter, was “partly offset by the declining trend for adult coloring books.” Total book sales were up 3.8 percent on a same-store basis, with a 3.1 percent increase in superstores. Doubleday announced two books to be published later this year by John Grisham: His thirtieth novel CAMINO ISLAND, “a caper of the highest form,” for publication on June 6 — to be followed by a new legal thriller on October 24. The house says they will print 1.5 million copies of each titles. The first book features, “Priceless F. Soumeya Bendimerad Roberts has joined Hannigan Salky Getzler Agency as agent and rights director. She will be focusing on her literary fiction, narrative non-fiction list, and young adult list. Roberts was most recently an agent at Writers House. In addition, Leigh Eisenman and Tanusri Prasanna have both been promoted to agent.
