Harper will publish Congressman Jamie Raskin’s memoir, UNTHINKABLE: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy, on January 4, 2022. SVP & director of creative development Lisa Sharkey acquired World Rights, with executive editor Matt Harper editing. In a release, Raskin said, “I wrote UNTHINKABLE as a way to make sense of two traumatic events in my life, the shattering loss of our son Tommy to depression on the last day of 2020 and, one week later, the bloody January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol incited by Donald Trump and calculated to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.”

Publishing Workers Feel the Burn Out
Princeton University Press recently announced their U.S. and U.K. offices would close the week of Aug. 30. “This has been a year of extraordinary new endeavors and collaborations, as well as unprecedented new challenges,” the company wrote on their website. “The risk of burnout is high and so are the August temperatures. Follett School Solutions Acquired By Francisco Partners
Follett Corporation has sold Follett School Solutions, the company’s K-12 software and content division, to tech-focused investment firm Francisco Partners, which owns the K-12 education-focused businesses Renaissance Learning, Discovery Education, Freckle, myON and Mystery Science. Earlier in the year, Francisco bought VitalSource from Ingram Content Group. The terms of the deal were not announced. Follett Corporation will continue to own and operate college bookstores through the Follett Higher Education Group, as well as what remains of Baker & Taylor.
