Two weeks ago Barnes & Noble announced their buyers’ picks for best books of the year overall and across multiple categories. Now the chains’ booksellers have duly picked 5.5 of the buyers’ top 11 as finalist for their Book of the Year designation, to be named November 18. Both include titles Anthony Doerr, Paul McCartney, T.J. Klune, and Louise Erdrich, with booksellers favoring a picture book in verse from Nikole Hannah-Jones’s 1619 Project over the adult book.
