Yale Publishing Course Suspended “For the Foreseeable Future”
The Yale School of Management Executive Education announced that it will not host the week-long Yale Publishing Course, due to the pandemic. “Sadly, due to the shifting industry landscape and repercussions of the global pandemic, Yale Executive Education will not be hosting the Yale Publishing Course for the foreseeable future,” the announcement said. “We’re grateful you considered the Yale Publishing Course for your professional development and encourage you to seek possible alternatives.” Yale began the course in 2010 as a successor to the Stanford Publishing Course after it was closed, and last hosted it in 2019. PRH CEO Dohle Pledges $500,000 to PEN America to Fight Book Banning
Penguin Random House ceo Markus Dohle has pledged a donation of “at least $500,000” to PEN America over the next five years to “provide support to communities where books are being challenged.” He has created the Dohle Book Defense Fund to aid legal battles in states such as Texas and South Carolina, where books about race, gender, and sexual orientation have been banned by school boards. Politcal satirist P.J. O’Rourke, 74, died on February 15 of complications of lung cancer. His books included Parliament of Whores, and most recently How the Hell Did This Happen? The Election of 2016.
Imprints: Mindy’s Book Studio
Mindy Kaling is launching an imprint, Mindy’s Book Studio with Amazon Publishing and Amazon Studios. Starting in late 2022, the imprint “will publish books across genres, from fresh romantic comedies and poignant coming-of-age stories to make readers laugh—and cringe—to suspenseful dramas with unforgettable female protagonists.” Published work will then be adapted for streaming on Amazon Prime by Amazon Studios, with Kaling holding first-producer option.
