PRH UK Shuts Down Penguin Connect
Penguin Random House UK has shut down events arm Penguin Connect, which connected authors with businesses for corporate events, The Bookseller reports. The three employees who worked on the team have left the company.
Knopf Canada Launches Alchemy; Soft Skull Partners With Kimbilio
Knopf Canada has launched Alchemy, a new publishing program led by poet and novelist Dionne Brand. Brand will work with publishing director Lynn Henry and publisher Martha Kanya-Forstner to publish two-to-three fiction and nonfiction titles per year. Elsewhere, Soft Skull Press will partner with fiction writing community Kimbilio, “acquiring up to two books a year from Kimbilio fellows and faculty members” over the next three years, with the first title publishing in late 2023.
