OCLC has filed a lawsuit against Clarivate and its subsidiaries Clarivate Analytics, ProQuest and ExLibris for “tortious interference of contract, tortious interference of prospective business relationships, and conspiracy to do the same.” ExLibris is developing a collaborative cataloging system called MetaDoor, a competitor to WorldCat, OCLC’s collective catalog of library bibliographic content that is populated by library members who are contracted with OCLC. (OCLC says 8,000 libraries have WorldCat subscriptions.) MWA Launches Lillian Jackson Braun Award
The Mystery Writers of America announced a new award, the $2,000 Lilian Jackson Braun Award “for the best full-length, contemporary cozy mystery published by an MWA-approved publisher.” The prize is named after the author of “The Cat Who…” series, who died in 2011. The winner will be announced at the Edgar Awards banquet in New York City each spring. China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair Postponed Again
The China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair has been postponed until November 18-22 due to recent Covid outbreaks and restrictions, returning to a fall schedule. It was previously scheduled for March 20-22, then July 22-24.

ABA Membership Counts Grow Again: “The rise in BIPOC stores is a big change for us”
The ABA releases their latest membership through the AP, per tradition. (The data is usually announced at the organization’s annual meeting — which was postponed this year from May to mid-July.) CEO Allison Hill said the organization has 2,010 members now, operating 2,524 locations, well up from last year’s counts of 1,700 members and 2,100 locations.
