Further to the news that Puffin UK has made change to some of the language in recent revised editions of Roald Dahl’s children’s books, the publisher announced that they will put out a line of the original books without changes. The 17-title Roald Dahl Classic Collection will “sit alongside the newly released Puffin Roald Dahl books for young readers,” allowing readers to choose which version they prefer. The publisher says the new edited versions “are designed for children who may be navigating written content independently for the first time.” Earlier this week, Puffin UK defended the updated editions, maintaining that, […]

Bookselling: Chip Gaines Buys Texas Bookstore Booked Up
Chip Gaines has purchased the buildings housing Booked Up, the bookstore in Archer City, Texas formerly owned by Lonesome Dove author Larry McMurtry. The store has been closed for over a year, following McMurtry’s death in 2021. Archer City was McMurtry’s hometown, and he ran the store for decades. He bequeathed it to longtime manager Khristal Collins. CNN says “the deed records show the properties were sold for ten dollars ‘and other good and valuable consideration'” and the store contains “a breathtaking collection of books.” Collins launched an online “Booked Up” bookstore on Wednesday, selling rare and fine books to […]
