Harper Germany Acquires Gräfe und Unzer
Harper Collins Germany will acquire guidebook publisher Gräfe und Unzer from Ganske, subject to regulatory approval. GU, which has operated for more than 300 years, will continue to be based in Munich under the Harper Collins umbrella, which will also take on the company’s distribution business, ISP Isar Sales Partner. Obituaries: Barbara Taylor Bradford, and NYT on Mike Shatzkin
Novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford, 91, died at home on November 24 following a short illness. In 1979 she published A Woman of Substance, which remained on the New York Times bestsellers list for 43 weeks. According to a release, she wrote a total of 40 novels, which have sold more than 91 million copies around the world. Bloomsbury Enters Licensing Deal With Spotify
Bloomsbury has entered a distribution agreement with Spotify to make its books available through the app’s Audiobooks in Premium feature. Titles will be available to Premium subscribers in the UK, US, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, and also can be purchased a la carte, for those who don’t subscribe.
