Knopf will publish a new nonfiction work by Joan Didion, NOTES TO JOHN, on April 22, 2025. The book, found in Didion’s filing cabinet, is a “journal in which she describes sessions with a psychiatrist” with entries addressed to husband John Gregory Dunne. The entries begin in 1999 and initially focus on “alcoholism, adoption, depression, anxiety, guilt” plus and the complexities of her relationship with her daughter, Quintana. Neil Gaiman Sued For Sexual Assault, Battery and Human Trafficking
Scarlett Pavlovich, who formerly worked as a nanny for Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, has sued Gaiman for sexual assault, battery, and human trafficking in Wisconsin federal court. The suit follows a long article in New York Magazine last month expanding on allegations from five women first reported by New Zealand podcast Tortoise Media. Giller Prize Breaks Ties with Scotiabank
On Monday the Giller Prize has parted ways with its primary sponsor Scotiabank, the Canadian Press reports. Since 2023, many in the Canadian literary community had protested the prize due to Scotiabank’s stake in an Israeli arms manufacturer. Executive director Elana Rabinovitch told the paper, “Following discussions, Scotiabank and the Giller Foundation decided that the best path forward was an end to the partnership.” In a statement, the Foundation noted they were “indebted” to Scotiabank and that they would “explore new opportunities and collaborations.” “Their support has helped transform the Giller Prize into one of the foremost literary awards in […]
