Catapult has acquired Portland-based independent publisher Hawthorne Books & Literary Arts, including its backlist. Hawthorne will become the fourth imprint under the publisher, joining Catapult, Counterpoint, and Soft Skull. Hawthorne publisher and executive editor Rhonda Hughes will stay on with Catapult, becoming contributing editor for Hawthorne Books, acquiring on behalf of the imprint, and reporting to group editorial director Dan Smetanka.
