The Swedish Academy named American poet Louise Glück as the winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize for Literature. She becomes the 16th woman to win the prize. The Academy says Glück, 77, was chosen “for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal.” Glück has published 12 books of poetry, as well as several collections of essays.
