Good Omens Graphic Novel Funded on Kickstarter
Dunmanifestin, the publishing arm of Terry Pratchett estate, launched a Kickstarter to publish a hardcover graphic novel version of Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 novel GOOD OMENS, adapted by illustrator Colleen Doran. The project hopes to publish in summer 2024 and quickly reached more than $1 million pledged in the first two days. According to the project page, it broke two Kickstarter records: the most successful 24 hours of any comic campaign and the most-backed comics Kickstarter. Forthcoming: Rachel Maddow’s PREQUEL
Crown will publish Rachel Maddow’s PREQUEL: An American Fight Against Fascism on October 17. According to the publisher, the book “charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century.” Gillian Blake takes over editing Maddow from Rachel Klayman, who left the company in March.

Higher Ed Sales Continue To Decline at Pearson
Pearson announced interim results for the first half of 2023 ended June 30, with sales of £1.879 billion, up 5 percent from 2022. Operating profit was £219 million, compared to £148 million last year. As far as publishing goes, which is less and less a focus of the company, the Higher Education segment grew 2 percent to £379 million — based on foreign exchange.
