Publishers Weekly announced their Best Books of 2021 in a variety of categories.
Distribution: Princeton University Press Partners with Princeton University Art Museum Publishing
Starting February 1, Princeton University Press will be the exclusive distributor for the Princeton University Art Museum’s frontlist and backlist books, and will co-publish select titles. PUP will handle publicity, marketing, and global sales and distribution while the museum will handle editorial, design, and production.
2021 Baillie Gifford Prize Shortlist
The shortlist for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction was announced. The £50,000 award will be presented on November 16.

Awards: Andrew Carnegie Medals; German Book Prize
The extensive longlists for the 2022 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction were announced. The shortlist, consisting of three fiction and three nonfiction titles, will be announced on November 8. The German Book Prize was awarded to Antje Rávik Strubel for her novel Blaue Frau (S. Fischer).
Distribution: Ingram Adds POD in Japan
Ingram’s print-on-demand business Lightning Source has partnered with Dai Nippon Printing to expand its global POD and distribution capacities to Japan, “enabling books within [their] catalog to be accessed, printed and delivered in the local bookselling markets quickly,” Ingram svp of content acquisition, international David Taylor said. “This is an unprecedented advantage for the Japanese publishing sector,” DNP senior corporate officer, general manager of publishing innovation operations Nobuyuki Asaba said. “Publishers will now be able to sell and export in several new countries through DNP and exponentially increase their print on demand catalog.
