Bob Miller to Depart Flatiron, Futter Becomes President & Publisher
Macmillan CEO Jonathan Yaged announced on Tuesday that Flatiron Books president and publisher Bob Miller, who founded the imprint in 2014, will be leaving the company. Yaged writes in the announcement, “I’ve known Bob for a long time. He is an industry legend with a unique ability to build successful companies from scratch. Bob has always been a joy to work with, and I can’t thank him enough for the impact he’s made at Macmillan. Storytel Increases Profits, Announces New CEO
Storytel released its interim financial report for second quarter of 2024 ended June 30, with sales up 9 percent to SEK924 million ($86.4 million). Operating profit was SEK47 million, up from a loss of SEK(29) million last year, with EBITDA of SEK110 million, compared to SEK42 million in 2023. Obituary: Francine Pascal
Sweet Valley High creator Francine Pascal, 92, died on July 28 of lymphoma. In 1983, Pascal created the Sweet Valley High series of young adult novels, which went on to launch many companion books, a TV show, and two grown-up sequels, Sweet Valley Confidential (2011) and The Sweet Life (2012). According to the New York Times, Sweet Valley titles have sold more than 200 million copies. Pascal also wrote several other books, including the YA series Fearless and adult novels Save Johanna! and If Wishes Were Horses.
