Daily Wire Conservative Imprint to Publish Officer Who Shot Breonna Taylor
Conservative news outlet The Daily Wire announced Wednesday that it will launch a publishing imprint, DW Books, set to start publishing in spring 2022. The Nashville-based company will use neighbor Ingram Content Group’s Two Rivers for distribution, which may be an uncomfortable fit for other clients, since DW Books says it will publish the book by Jonathan Mattingly, a police officer who shot Breonna Taylor. Rooney Won’t License New Novel to An Israeli Publisher
Author Sally Rooney confirmed that she has “chosen not to sell” the translation rights to her latest novel, BEAUTIFUL WORLD, WHERE ARE YOU “to an Israeli-based publishing house,” in support of the Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) Palestinian-led boycott of Israeli companies and institutions. Follett and Baker & Taylor held their virtual 2021 Publisher Summit on Friday. In the opening session, Follett School Solutions ceo of content Britten Follett and Baker & Taylor evp Aman Kochar discussed business trends for each company. (FSS was sold just over a month ago to Francisco Partners.) Kochar reported that B&T’s ebook sales are up more than 15 percent over pre-pandemic levels, and ebook library circulations are up 40 percent. Oxford University Press USA staffers voted Friday to certify OUP USA Guild as an official union with the support of 80 percent of eligible employees. The NewsGuild-CWA says the group is the first major academic publisher to join the union.
