Publishing platform Libraro and Hachette UK are launching a new literary prize called the Libraro Prize to discover new voices and “sidestep the traditional barricades of the book industry.” Readers on the Libraro platform will be invited to boost titles for a six-book shortlist of adult and YA crossover titles that have not yet been traditionally published. Writers will upload their manuscripts to the platform for consideration.
A panel of judges will select the winner, who will receive a £50,000 prize package and a book deal with Hachette UK. The Guardian writes that “two additional reader prizes of £10,000 each will also be awarded: one to the reader who referred the winning author to the platform, and another to the reader who engages most actively with submissions.
