Vigliano to Sell Agency to Burkle-Backed AGI
The NY Post reports that literary agency David Vigliano is selling his company to Ron Burkle’s Y Entertainment Group. Vigliano Associates will be integrated with Artists Group International to form AGI Vigliano Literary, with Vigliano running the literary group. (AGI describes itself as a “live entertainment agency that books an expansive roster of musicians, comedians, and sporting events worldwide.” Their lifestyle group works with television personalities and producers, focused on culinary, fashion, style, home, health & wellness.) TPG Plans Majority Stake In CAA
The NY Post reports that private equity firm TPG plans to increase their stake in CAA from a 35-percent share to a controlling 51-percent holding. That deal “could be announced within the week, one source familiar with the talks said.” The paper’s sources say the long-term objective of taking control is to put the agency on a path to an IPO. Hachette Book Group has launched their Author and Agent Portal as a “channel” within their business-facing site hachettebookgroup.biz. Similar to portals from Simon & Schuster, Random House and others, it includes unit sales information by title, weekly Nielsen BookScan sales data, an “interactive publication timeline for the 12 months prepublication,” a feature for sending large files between author and editor, and an online-piracy-reporting tool. In Settlement, Foreword Literary Changes Name to Fuse
Foreword Literary agency announced that they are changing their name to Fuse Literary, under an out-of-court settlement with Foreword Magazine. Founded in 2013, the agency will continue to operate as before. Founding partner Laurie McLean says in a statement: “The owners of Fore Word Magazine, Inc. felt that people in publishing would be confused by the similar sounding names of our literary agency and their quarterly review magazine.
