John Bolton is on a little tease tour this week, appearing for an interview at Duke University on Monday (and moving on to Vanderbilt). He avoided answering controversial questions while suggesting the answers were in his forthcoming book, THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED: “You’ll love Chapter 14.” The manuscript has yet to receive government approval and therefore unlikely to make a print release date of March 17. “I really hope it is not suppressed,” Bolton said of his book. “I say things in the manuscript about what he (Trump) said to me,” he added. “I hope they become public someday.” […]

Kaepernick Pairs with Audible, Will Self-Publish Memoir
Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has a deal to release an audio version of his memoir through Audible later this year. He will self-publish the print version through Kaepernick Publishing, with Two Rivers distributing and working in partnership with Melcher Media. Quarto has hired Polly Powell, owner of what now operates as Pavilion Books, as chief executive officer of the company’s UK operations, and executive director of the company. Powell had been working as an advisor to lead owner CK Lau since this past October. Andrea Giunti Lombardo, whose family bought 6.2 million shares in Quarto in its recent capital raise, has also joined the board, as non-executive director of the company. He replaces Michael Mousley. NYT bestselling suspense novelist Mary Higgins Clark died Friday of natural causes at 92 in Naples, FL. Jeffrey Archer Sues Curtis Brown UK For Alleged Underpayments, Breach of Duty
Earlier this month, author Jeffrey Archer filed suit in London’s High Court against his former literary agency, Curtis Brown UK, claiming they owe him £538,486 in alleged underpayments since they began representing him in 2002, plus interest on those funds of over £250,000. Archer also seeks damages for breach of duty, and a formal declaration that his representation by Curtis Brown UK ended last March. The Evening Standard ran the first report on the case six days ago. Florian Illies, publisher of Rowohlt in Germany, will step down “at his own request…at some later point this year.” Illies became publisher in January 2019, following the dismissal of publisher Barbara Laugwitz the previous August, a controversial selection at the time. Nicola Bartels will succeed him as publisher starting July 1. Bartels was most recently publisher at Random House Germany.
