The Booker Prize announced its longlist, with authors from the US comprising nine of thirteen slots. Last year, authors from the US were all but omitted, with only the American-born Lucy Ellmann included. This year, eight of the selected titles are debuts (Kiley Reid’s Such a Fun Age, Brandon Taylor’s Real Life, C Pam Zhang’s How Much of These Hill Is Gold, and more) and nine are written by women. Mary Trump’s TOO MUCH AND NEVER ENOUGH sold over 1.35 million units across all formats during its first week on sale in the US, Simon & Schuster reported. Another hardcover reprint will give them 1.35 million copies in print when it delivers. That suggests continuing sales of about 400,000 units after pre-orders and the first day on sale, and an added 200,000 hardcovers in print since their first sales announcement a week ago.
