EBSCO and H.W. Wilson have merged in a deal that combines the two publishing companies’ operations with the intended goal of improving services for libraries. Though not yet confirmed, RealClearPolitics claims that Donald Trump is working on a “policy book” in connection with his potential presidential ambitions that Regnery has “tentatively” set for late-summer publication. They say that Regnery’s Harry Crawford will edit the manuscript, “which will be heavily ghostwritten, with Trump playing a supporting role in generating content.” More certain is that guitarist for The Who Pete Townshend is working on a memoir, currently titled PETE TOWNSHEND: WHO HE?, that agent Ed Victor is currently auctioning. Thomas Nelson will publish a children’s edition of Todd Burpo & Lynn Vincent’s bestseller HEAVEN IS FOR REAL on November 9, priced at $14.99. The book has sold over 2 million copies and spent the past 17 weeks at #1 on the NYT non-fiction bestseller list. On Friday Crain’s reported that Amazon was among the bidders in the recent Amanda Hocking auction, citing “insiders” who say the etailer “actually made the highest offer of the six bidders,” but “insisted on exclusivity for the e-book edition.” Those “insiders” also say Amazon “brought in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt” as its print partner in the bid, though both Amazon and HMH did not comment to Crain’s for the story. The Charlie Sheen circus is visiting book publishing this week as Foundry Literary + Media agent Peter McGuigan has been eliciting offers for a Charlie Sheen book. McGuigan didn’t comment to Crain’s New York (which had the first report) or the AP.
