Benjamin Alire Saenz has won the PEN/Faulkner Award for his short story collection EVERYTHING BEGINS AND ENDS AT THE KENTUCKY CLUB (Cinco Puntes Press). Saenz will receive the $15,000 prize at an awards ceremony in Washington DC on May 4. Grand Central’s romance imprint Forever and their companion digital imprint Forever Yours will expand to publish 120 titles in 2013 and more than 190 titles in 2013 — up from 64 titles in 2012 — as part of a “major initiative” celebrating the imprint’s 10th anniversary. Bookselling: Prairie Lights’ New Publishing Venture: Robin’s Bookstore, Puddn’Head Books Close; And More
Prairie Lights Bookstore is teaming up with the University of Iowa Press to publish a handful of books annually, starting with Philip Levine’s poetry collection SWEET WILL. The Iowa Press-Citizen reports Prairie Lights will act as the publisher, while UI Press will produce, design and distribute the books.
