His company Zaffre Publishing is being absorbed into the group, for “an undisclosed fee.” The Zaffre business will be expanded, focusing on women’s fiction, romance, historical fiction, crime, thrillers, science fiction, fantasy, horror and fiction in translation. Chronicle Books will handle sales and distribution for UK-based illustrated books publisher Quadrille Publishing in North America, starting with the fall 2015 season. Quadrille plans to hire a US-based marketing and publicity executive and expects to publish approximately 20 titles a season for this market. Quadrille was acquired in 2013 by Australia’s Hardie Grant.
