HarperCollins union, which is made up of more than 250 employees, announced that they will strike for one day on July 20. Bloomsbury will add 100 new staff positions “across all areas of the company” to help alleviate workload for existing employees, The Bookseller reports. Australia’s online bookseller Booktopia released a trading update for the quarter ending March 31 showing slower growth and a big drop in earnings, accompanied by an announcement that co-founder Tony Nash will step down as ceo once a replacement is found.
