By Erin Somers

AMEET Publishing

Cindy Loh will join in the newly created role of publisher, starting August 1. (AMEET is publishing partner for the LEGO Group, distributed by Simon & Schuster.) Loh was most recently at Bloomsbury, where she led their children’s and adult trade lists.

Howard University

Nikole Hannah-Jones will be a tenured member of the faculty of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, filling the newly-created Knight Chair in Race and Journalism. In taking the appointment, she has declined to serve as the Knight chair at the University of North Carolina’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media: “I cannot imagine working at and advancing a school named for a man who lobbied against me, who used his wealth to influence the hires and ideology of the journalism school, who ignored my 20 years of journalism experience, all of my credentials, all of my work, because he believed that a project that centered Black Americans equaled the denigration of white Americans.”
Ta-Nehisi Coates will be a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Hachette Children's Group UK

Charmian Allwright is retiring as group production and operations director on August 31 after 42 years. Teresa Wood will be promoted to production director and Rasha Elsaeed to head of publishing operations.
