Doubleday Books   

SVP and creative director John Fontana will retire on November 1 after 23 years as part of the company’s VSO offer.

Fontana art directed or designed covers for authors including John Grisham, Dan Brown, Jon Krakauer, Kevin Kwan, H.W. Brands, Colson Whitehead, Bonnie Garmus, David Grann, Chris Bohjalian, Chuck Palahniuk, and Steven King. “John’s ability to visually communicate the essence of a book to the widest possible audience is unparalleled. His innovative ideas, artistic flair and unwavering commitment to the craft of book cover design have set a standard for excellence in the field,” Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group svp, creative director John Gall said.

Stefanie Stocke has joined as senior director of human resources.

Simon & Schuster Children's   

Bezawit Yohannes has been promoted to assistant marketing manager for Aladdin, Boynton Bookworks, Little Simon, Simon Spotlight, Simon Pulse, and Margaret K. McElderry Books.

Kimberly Capriola as production editor for Simon and Schuster Children’s and Paula Wiseman Books. She was most recently a copy editor for Pioneer Valley Books.

Kira Weiner has been promoted to associate marketing manager, events.

David C Cook   

Chris Baggett is promoted to chief marketing officer.
