Forthcoming: Bill Clinton’s Memoir; Vandermeer’s Southern Reach Book
Knopf announced that it will publish Bill Clinton‘s next memoir, CITIZEN: MY LIFE AFTER THE WHITE HOUSE on November 19. The publisher writes that the book “discusses his triumphs and tribulations, set against a backdrop of historic events both at home and abroad.” It will touch on major events of the 21st century including “the Iraq War, the Haiti earthquake, the Great Recession, the elections of 2008 and 2016, COVID-19,” and more. New Sourcebooks Children’s Book Imprint
Sourcebooks will launch a new children’s book imprint, broadly publishing fiction, nonfiction, and graphic titles across age categories. It will publish 16-24 titles per year. Joining Sourcebooks on April 11 to build the imprint are two editorial staffers from Katherine Tegen Books: Ben Rosenthal, who was editorial director, and Mabel Hsu, who was executive editor. They will report to Sourcebooks editorial director Jenne Abramowitz. Indigo Accepts Buyout Offer
After receiving a buyout offer from majority shareholders Trilogy Retail Holdings and Trilogy Investments in February, the board of Indigo Books & Music unanimously agreed to the sale at a slightly increased price, the company reports. Trilogy currently owns approximately 60.6 percent of shares, and will acquire the remaining at $2.50 (CA) in cash per share. At the beginning of February, Trilogy had offered $2.25 a share. Imprints: Summit Books Australia
After relaunching the imprint in the US at the beginning of the year, Simon & Schuster will introduce Summit Books in Australia and New Zealand. Jane Palfreyman will join as publishing director or May 6, reporting to Simon & Schuster Australia managing director Dan Ruffino. Palfreyman was previously at Allen & Unwin. In a release, Ruffino said, “She is arguably one of Australia’s most successful and influential publishers and I’m looking forward to Jane’s significant contribution to Simon & Schuster Australia’s growth plans over the coming years.”
