Imprints: Bloomsbury Archer
Bloomsbury is launching Bloomsbury Archer, a new sci-fi and fantasy imprint led by publishing director Vicky Leech Mateos in the UK and by publishing director Noa Wheeler and senior director of marketing and publicity Erica Barmash in the US. The imprint will launch with Samantha Shannon’s AMONG THE BURNING FLOWERS in September, and the author’s backlist will move under the imprint. Zando to Acquire Tin House Books
Zando will acquire Tin House’s book publishing operations, including their frontlist, backlist of more than 200 titles, and trademark. According to the announcement, “Zando plans to elevate the impact of Tin House’s existing, illustrious backlist, activating Zando’s own robust publishing infrastructure to enhance sales, marketing, and distribution efficiencies for Tin House titles. Meta Spars with Flatiron Over Forthcoming Book
NBC reports extensively in advance on revelations in Sarah Wynn-Williams’s CARELESS PEOPLE, publishing Tuesday. They note that, “Meta filed an emergency request for a hearing before an arbitrator Saturday, arguing that Wynn-Williams had violated a nondisparagement agreement and seeking ‘injunctive relief barring disparagement.’” NBC says Meta lawyer Jonathan Cohn wrote to publisher Flatiron Books on Friday, claiming that the marketing copy suggested the embargoed book featured “overheated, false, and potentially defamatory allegations.” Cohn asked for an opportunity to suggestions revisions.
