Deal News As the wires recount today, Jay Leno’s written a picture book, IF ROAST BEEF COULD FLY, with illustrations by S.B. Whitehouse, for publication next summer-by an unnamed publisher. When he was a child, Leno was “fascinated by the roast beef going around the spit” and experimented by getting his plastic comb stuck in the string wrapped around the meat. Children’s Books Score Big Again British Reverend Graham Taylor self-published his novel for children SHADOWMANCER, “a tale of Christianity and black magic set in the 17th century,” last year and managed to do well in Waterstone’s with it. Faber published the book in paperback last month and has already sold 20,000 copies, with more momentum building, and now Penguin Putnam has bought US rights for a reported $500,000.
