People: Blake to Holt, and More

September 8, 2009
By Michael Cader

Gillian Blake will join Holt’s adult unit as executive editor on September 21, focusing on “high profile nonfiction acquisitions.” Most recently she had been executive editor at Collins until that unit was reorganized earlier this year.

Stacia Decker has joined the Donald Maass Literary Agency as an agent. A former editor at Harcourt and Otto Penzler Books, she is representing mystery, suspense, noir, and crime
fiction.

Former longtime editor for Word Publishing and Thomas Nelson Laura Kendall died of pneumonia last week in Nashville, Tennessee. Kendall, who was still freelancing, had retired from Nelson in 2005, after two decades of editing books by bestselling Christian authors including Max Lucado, Billy Graham, Ruth Bell Graham, Anne Graham Lotz, Charles Swindoll, Barbara Johnson and Tony Campolo.

At Perigee, Jeanette Shaw has been promoted to associate editor. She has been with the imprint since 2005.

At Nicholas Brealey Publishing North America, Erika Heilman has been promoted to editorial director and Jennifer Olsen moves up to associate editor. Nicole LeBlanc has been hired as marketing director. She has held marketing position at both McGraw-Hill Professional and Springer Science + Business Media.
