Curtis Riskey has been appointed Executive Director for CBA, effective immediately, after serving in an interim position since November 2009. Previously he was the Association’s strategic solutions executive.

has left his post as Chief Executive of the Publishers Association for Pearson, where he will be Head of Public Affairs.

Chronicle Books announced a slew of promotions across the company. Sarah Billingsley has been named Assistant Editor, Food & Drink, while on the Children’s side, Melissa Manlove has been promoted to Editor, Mary Colgan to Assistant Editor, Eloise Leigh to Designer, and Amy Achaibou to Senior Designer. Rachel Geiger has been named Senior Sales Manager and J.J. Seaman is now Special Sales Associate. And on the Design and Production side, Jennifer Tolo Pierce has been named Design Director, Lifestyle & Children’s, Ben Laramie has been promoted to Industrial Designer, Jennifer Lies has been appointed Senior Web Manager and Laura Bagnato has been appointed Designer, Marketing Communications.

Newbery Medal-winning children’s writer Sid Fleischman died of cancer on March 17 at his home in Santa Monica at the age of 90.
