People, Etc.

Skira Rizzoli Publications has hired Margaret Rennolds Chace as associate publisher, reporting to Charles Miers, starting next week. Most recently she was managing editor of publications at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

At the New York Times, Julie Bosman is taking over as the reporter covering book publishing.

At Harper Children’s, Mary-Kate Gaudet has been promoted to editor.

With the flooding in Nashville, TN, we heard concerns about the potential personal and business impact. Spokesman for the Ingram Book Company Keel Hunt replies to our query: “CEO Skip Prichard reports there has been no flood damage at Ingram facilities, and no interruption in shipping or other services to Ingram customers. He also noted, however, that many Ingram associates in LaVergne TN (who reside across the greater Nashville region) have suffered heart-breaking losses from rising water affecting their homes.”

Self-publisher Infinity Publishing, which uses the charming euphemism of “author-originated book publishing,” has sold a majority share to a Boston-based investment group led by Arthur Gutch and New Harbour Partners. Gutch has taken over as ceo. Founder Tom Gregory will stay on the board and serve as a consultant; Mark Gregory stays with the company as vp of the digital print division.
