Farbey Joins Scholastic In New Global Nonfiction Post, and More People, Etc.

June 7, 2010
By Michael Cader

Scholastic has hired Miriam Farbey for the new position of global publisher, nonfiction in their trade publishing division. She will oversee all children’s trade nonfiction publishing, reporting to trade division president Ellie Berger. Farbey was most recently global publisher at DK. Based in Scholastic’s UK off, she started June 1.

James Jayo is joining Globe Pequot Press as an editor for Lyons Press. He had been an associate manager of foreign rights at Crown and before that was an associate editor at Arcade.

Anna Bliss is joining Globe Pequot Press as an editor-at-large for Lyons Press. She was previously at Overlook Press, HarperCollins, and Sobel Weber Associates.

Chicago Review Press, Inc. has acquired German-based Art Stock Bocks, which distributes fine art, architecture and photography titles published by approximately 30 European publishers in North America. All marketing and operations will be integrated into their subsidiary Independent Publishers Group (IPG). President of IPG Mark Suchomel says in the announcement, “Art Stock Books is a first-rate, niche art distributor with titles that will wonderfully complement our other distribution arms. Publishers already distributed by ASB will immediately benefit from IPG’s operational economies and our strong sales efforts in and outside the book trade.”

Ingram Publisher Services announced three new distribution clients: Windsor Peak Press (parenting and wedding titles), ALARM Press, and Schilt Publishing (high-end photography books).
