Following the sale of the NetLibrary division to EBSCO, the OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) is laying off 64 people by the end of the month in what the Columbus Dispatch calls “a cost-cutting move.” Spokesman Bob Murphy says the NetLibrary sale is “largely the reason for this layoff.” But chief executive Jay Jordan said in a staff memo that budget cuts at member libraries would affect the organization.
