Lisa Richards has joined Macmillan as National Account Manager, representing all of the Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group’s imprints to retail accounts serviced by Levy, including Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Target. She has previously worked for TOKYOPOP, Viz Media, and Prima Publishing, and reports to Director of Children’s Sales Mark von Bargen.

After 18 years with Hodder and Headline, James Horobin will join Simon & Schuster UK in the newly created role of Group Sales, Marketing and Brand Development Director. He reports to Executive Director Kerr MacRae. At Headline, Aslan Byrne becomes UK and International Sales Director with immediate effect, reporting to Managing Director Jane Morpeth.

VP special markets for Rosen Publishing Tricia Bauer has won the first FC2 Catherine Doctorow Innovative Fiction Prize for her novel, “Father Flashes.” She will receive $15,000 and the book will be published by FC2 in Autumn 2011.

The Senate has passed a bill to shield US journalists, authors, and publishers from “libel tourists” who file suit in countries where they expect to get the most favorable ruling. It’s expected to be approved by the House and be signed into law by President Obama. In a statement, AAP’s Judith Platt said: “As we told Congress, these foreign libel judgments not only deprive American authors and publishers of their right to speak, they deprive our citizenry of their right to be informed. The legislation passed today will significantly reduce that chilling effect.”
