Nelson Johnson, about to enjoy renewed attention for his book BOARDWALK EMPIRE thanks to the HBO series that it inspired, has been “required to cancel all appearances related to his writing,” the Observer reports. As a New Jersey Superior Court trial judge, his “extrajudicial activities” require the approval of the court and must conform to a state code of ethical conduct.

Johnson is due to argue his case with the court’s Advisory Committee on Extrajudicial Activities, but publisher Plexus Publishing indicates a final decision from the court could take months. They have printed 85,000 copies of the tie-in paperback.
