People, Etc.

October 7, 2010
By Sarah Weinman

Y.S. Chi has been appointed president of the International Publishers Association, effective January 1. He is Vice Chairman and CEO of Elsevier Science & Technology, and is also a member of the AAP Board of Directors.

Michelle Paver has won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize for Ghost Hunter, the sixth and final novel in her Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series.

A memorial for Les Pockell will be held on Tuesday, October 12 at 5 PM at The Proshansky Auditorium at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue @ 35th Street. A reception will follow.

Spanish language digital publisher Red Ediciones has launched a new e-bookstore (in tandem with Impelsys) with some 895 titles from their digital imprint Linkgua.

At Transworld, Madeline Toy has been named acting publicity manager, and Lynsey Dalladay has also been promoted to senior press officer.

A couple of corrections to close out the week: Lunch regrets spelling Alexander Maksik’s name wrong in yesterday’s dispatch. And an Automat headline about Paul Auster’s City of Glass’s availability for Playstation was not correct: rather, the graphic novel edition of the book will be sold as an e-book for the device.
