At becker&mayer!, as of April 1 Jim Becker will serve as president and publisher of the book packager, including overseeing SmartLab and other educational initiatives, while Andy Mayer will focus on new business development as publisher of Epic Ink, which produces high-end collectible books, and director of becker&mayer! productions, which develops and delivers innovative book-related products directly to retailers.
Anna Erikson has joined The Creative Company as vp of retail sales to manage the Creative Editions and Creative Paperbacks imprints. Previously she was at Chronicle Books as director of distribution client services.
At Harlequin, Emily Rodmell has been promoted to associate editor at Steeple Hill Books.
At Turner Publishing, Frankie Danly will oversee the company’s editorial staff, while Diane Gedymin will oversee title acquisition. Angie Lithgow has been named accounting manager, and sales coverage of independent bookstores and other specialty retailers has been reorganized into five regional groups, for a total of 20 reps, calling on these accounts in the field. The Turner liaison for these customers will remain Teresa Wright.
Reynolds Price, the NBCC-Award-winning author of many novels, memoirs, poetry, essays and plays and a member of Duke University’s English department faculty for more than 50 years, died Thursday in Durham, N.C. He was 77 and had suffered a major heart attack the previous Sunday.
