We finally have a major author trying the equivalent of a subscription model to enroll and regularly reach core readers. Direct Brands’ Book-of-the-Month Club is launching a James Patterson Library continuity program along with Little, Brown. Members “will automatically receive all new thrillers by James Patterson for $12.95 plus shipping and handling,” sent once a month. Crown has announced the title for Ann Coulter‘s latest, publishing June 7: DEMONIC: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America. If you need or want an explanation, the release is here. A large fire closed a large area in downtown Brattleboro, VT on Sunday night, striking the building in which The Book Cellar is located (along with nine other businesses). Allison Dobson has moved in-house to the Random House Publishing Group as vp, director, business development and strategic partnerships, reporting to Bill Takes. In the UK Mark Hutchinson, formerly of Colman Getty, is setting up a pr and management consulting company, Mark Hutchinson Management. Egan and Mukherjee Among Pulitzer Winners

The Pulitzer Prizes were announced Monday. The winners in Letters are below. Knopf says they are reprinting 100,000 copies of the Egan trade paperback with the Pulitzer seal for delivery next week. Released in late March, the reprints will bring that edition up to 185,000 copies in print. A small reprint of 15,000 copies delivered yesterday, with a small amount of stock being reserved for indie stores. Spokesman Paul Bogaards says GOON SQUAD has sold approximately 25,000 digital copies since its original release, and he notes that Anchor expects an uplift for the four Egan backlist books as well. You may recall that in February, a manuscript by Sarah Palin’s former chief of staff Frank Bailey was leaked to the press, along with the pitch letter from the Carol Mann Agency. And author Joe McGinniss–whose own Palin book is set for publication this September–was at least one of the leakers. But today Howard Books announced they will still publish ahead of McGinniss, publishing BLIND ALLEGIANCE TO SARAH PALIN this May.
