At the Random House publishing group, Random House Trade Paperbacks associate publisher Melissa Possick is moving over to the newly-created position of director, marketing partnerships. She will reporting to marketing director Sanyu Dillon and work from home. Possick will “conceptualize and develop partner opportunities in both the digital and physical universe and seek to acquire third-party promotional and advertising partner programs.”

Currently vp, associate publisher for Mass Market, Del Rey/Spectra & Digital Gina Wachtel will expand her role to vp, Mass Market & Trade Paperbacks. She will report to Jane von Mehren in her new role with Random House Trade Paperbacks and will continue to report to Libby McGuire on the Mass Market list.

Barnes & Noble has appointed Miwa Messer as director of their Discover Great New Writers program. She joined BN in 1998 as author promotions manager.

Grand Central associate editor Celia Johnson is leaving after five years to focus on her nonprofit start-up, Slice Literary, and her writing.

Harper Press publishing director Clare Smith will move to Little Brown UK and Abacus as fiction publishing director fiction, starting September 19 and reporting to managing director Richard Beswick. As a result, Harper Press will stop publishing fiction as of June 2012. The program will be led for now by Essie Cousins, and next year the fiction authors with move to Harper Fiction.
