Maggie Richards has been promoted to deputy publisher at Henry Holt, in addition to her current responsibilities as vp sales and marketing.

Simon & Schuster UK senior commissioning editor Francesca Main will move to Picador on September 26 as editorial director, acquiring and publishing commercial literary fiction.

RPG game designer Jonathan Tweet [stet] was hired in June by Amazon and is said to be developing a “social game”–indicated on his LinkedIn page, which indicates he is “doing social games with a crack team,” and confirmed by Tweet to IndustryGamers. Amazon purchased a downloadable gaming company Reflexive Entertainment in 2008, but “developing and publishing a social game is a much different proposition than creating a typical downloadable PC game.” The move is yet another indication of something that would make sense if your company was planning on launching its own media tablets.

Also game-related, in an author vein, Andy McNab (who is both an author and co-owner of the UK’s GoSpoken) is listed as the co-author of a November book from Grand Central that will tie into the holiday release of the XBox game Battlefied 3.

Agent Helen Heller announces that Kelley Armstrong will be end her series Women of the Otherworld with ’13,’ the thirteenth and final installment, for publication in 2012.

F+W Media has acquired The Writers Store, a third-party reseller of writing and filmmaking tools, for an undisclosed sum.
