Bloomsbury is expanding into India with a standalone business based in Delhi that will launch in May. The new company will be led by Rajiv Beri, who spent the past 15 years as managing director of Macmillan’s operations in India. “We are hugely enthusiastic about this new venture and are looking forward to building our presence in this growing market,” ceo Nigel Newton said in a statement. For the past 25 years Bloomsbury titles were marketed and distributed in India by Penguin.

Transcontinental’s TC Media Division acquired educational and trade book publisher Les Editions Caractere for an undisclosed sum. The move is part of a larger reorganization effort that will merge Les Editions Caractere with Cheneliere Education and Les Editions Transcontinental into a new Books division led by Cheneliere president Jacques Rochefort. “This transaction makes TC Media the top player in Quebec’s supplemental educational publishing market, accelerating its growth in this strategic niche that was already in development within the company,” TC Media said in a statement.

The UK, Midas PR has added a speakers bureau, Signature Speakers, which will offer speaking opportunities for clients as well as themed events, master classes, keynote speeches and anniversary occasions.
